CEO / President
Dr. Alonzo Vera
Alonzo received his M.Sc. and Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from the University of New Mexico. He has specialized in embedded system design for aerospace applications and dynamic partial reconfiguration applications using FPGAs. Alonzo has striven to create a culture of excellence within the company, encouraging technical collaboration among the company’s team members. “My biggest satisfaction is that our customers come back to us with new projects. It means we are doing something right!”
Director of Engineering
Dr. Jorge Piovesan
Jorge brings a breadth of technical expertise and leadership experience to IDEAS-TEK. His focus is to bring our innovations to market and expand our engineering services to other mission-critical applications. Jorge has worked on R&D projects that range from the Internet of Things, to medical imaging, to robotics, embedded systems, and cyber/physical systems. Jorge has a Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from the University of New Mexico and a B.S. in Electronic Systems Engineering (Summa Cum Laude). Senior Accountant
Jennifer Potutschnig
Jennifer handles IDEAS-TEK’s accounting and financial analysis. She brings over 30 years of accounting experience working with small and mid-sized businesses in the scientific, engineering, facility protection and environmental areas of government contracting, customized manufacturing, health lab research, construction and holding companies. At IDEAS-TEK she is using her vast knowledge of accounting and database systems to keep improving the accounting processes to match the ever-evolving complexity of space-related contracts.
Director of Operations
Dr. Gilberto Zamora
Gilberto has more than 20 years of experience in medical device R&D and commercialization. IDEAS-TEK is his first foray into the aerospace industry, and he is liking it. Previously, he managed the implementation of tele-health networks, was the PI in seven NIH SBIR grants, and established quality management systems compliant with ISO and FDA . At IDEAS-TEK, Gilberto is helping the rest of the management team focus on growth and business development. Gilberto has a PhD in Electrical Engineering from Texas Tech University (2002).

HR Manager
Emily Miera
Emily is IDEAS-TEK's Administrative Professional and HR Manager. She brings over 25 years of experience in administrative and facility management. She holds and Associate's Degree in Electronics Technology from the University of New Mexico. Emily is excited to apply her talent to the dynamic IDEAS-TEK's team. "I love my job and enjoy working with such an exceptional group of people."
​Originally, IDEAS Engineering & Technology, IDEAS-TEK, was started by four grad school colleagues in 2011 as an electronics engineering company. After securing its first R&D contract in 2014, IDEAS-TEK decided to specialize on developing embedded systems, FPGA circuit boards, and microelectronics for the aerospace market.
By the time IDEAS-TEK delivered its first payload to orbit in 2015, it narrowed its focus to the space industry and continued to further its expertise on microelectronics, embedded systems, and digital electronic systems while pursuing innovation in high-performance computing and modular electronics.
After delivering various payloads and subsystems to space, in 2020 IDEAS-TEK moved into their new 6,200 sq. ft. facility in the Sadia Science & Technology Park to join a community of distinguished aerospace companies. IDEAS-TEK also began a new effort to support new space constellations with electronic development and production capabilities.
Today, IDEAS-TEK concentrates on providing cost-effective computing and embedded systems for mission-critical applications through their VNX+/VPX modular solutions, Build-to-Spec/Print Services, and R&D into the latest AI-enabling technologies.
